Dental Crowns Reviews
"Awesome service and in-house crowns! No waiting for days or weeks. 👍"- S.H. / Google / May 02, 2019
"What an extraordinary dentist! I had an emergency...my front tooth broke off and I was leaving on a trip the next day, Sunday. Dr. Alan Howard opened his office on a Saturday night and in one hour I had a beautiful new crown. True, he is my regular dentist but still who does that...comes in on a Saturday night to fix a tooth?! What an amazing dentist! The Best! Highly highly recommend!"- L.L. / Yelp / Nov 23, 2019
"I love this office! Have been coming here for years for dental work and cleanings twice a year because everyone who works here is so friendly and super efficient. Equipment is high tech too. Have told many people about this great business. They even do crowns while you relax in the chair watching TV. No need to come back for another visit. All done at one sitting. Fabulous in my opinion!"- J.G. / Google / Jun 18, 2020

"All year I put off my regular cleanings due to COVID fears, but I needn’t have worried. I visited yesterday and am so glad I did. The staff at the office were vigilant, and the experience reassuring. Also, I’ve had several crowns replaced here in the past few years, and the whole process is done in one sitting! Great work!"- S.F. / Yelp / Dec 10, 2020
Best Candidates for Dental Crowns
A crown may be wanted or needed in several different ways. They may be placed to cover a decaying tooth to prevent it from chipping or it may hold together an already cracked tooth. Dental crowns may also cover a worn-down or loose tooth. They may be used to strengthen a tooth with a lot of decay that will not take a tooth-colored filling, serve as part of a dental bridge, or hide discolored or misshapen teeth. Crowns may be glued over your tooth or connected by an implant. The crown's material is chosen with consideration to where it is being placed. Porcelain fused to metal (PFM) or metal are usually stronger, which makes them better suited for the less visible molars and pre-molars. Ceramic or porcelain crowns are often selected for the visible teeth and custom made to match the size, color, and shape of your teeth. In your consult, Dr. Alan or Yonatan Howard will explain your choices and help you choose the best dental crown for your budget and needs.
What To Expect from Dental Crowns
At your consult, Drs. Howard and Howard will get dental impressions so your crown can be made to fit your tooth. In some cases, a temporary dental crown may be used to cover your tooth as your permanent crown is being crafted. As soon as your custom crown is made, the treatment area will be given a local numbing anesthetic. Stronger sedation techniques may be used to soothe any fears or anxieties. When the anesthesia has taken effect, Dr. Howard will prep your tooth by cleaning away any decay, then lightly file the enamel to create space for your dental crown. Your dental crown can be either glued to your tooth or connected to an implant. Once set, Dr. Howard can adjust the crown's fit so it is comfortable.
Dental Crowns Recovery
Unless sedation was used, you will be able to leave our office once the procedure is done and continue your daily activities. Dr. Howard or a member of his team will teach you how to care for your dental crown, including any foods that should be avoided and cleaning. During your yearly examinations at The Dental Office Encino, Dr. Howard will evaluate your dental crown and adjust it to keep it comfortable. They will tell you when your crown should be replaced; however, with good care, it may last for several years. If you notice any trouble with your crown (if it falls out or is loose), call our office immediately. Don't try to repair it or re-attach it because this may cause an infection or bad fit.
Based on your insurance coverage, a portion of your costs may be paid. After contacting your insurance carrier, we can calculate your remaining costs. At your consult, Dr. Howard will help you select the best crown material that suits your needs and budget. They can also talk about payment methods along with financing to help make your procedure affordable.
