Dental Crowns Reviews
"The service I’ve received here is IMPECCABLE!I have an extreme case of dental anxiety but Dr A. Howard is the best dentist I’ve ever had....and by a long shot. He put me at ease and very thoroughly explained the extensive work I needed to have done step by step. My crowns were made in office and permanently cemented in the same appointment. The front desk team is amazing. Lauren was very kind and helped make sure I understood everything. The dental assistants were just dolls! Genevieve and Maribel helped keep me laughing and distracted and comfortable while my crowns were being made.I’m so happy I found this practice. They truly care. Thank you guys!"- B.C. / Google / Nov 10, 2017
"I searched the internet for an office that can make crowns and overlays in the office and I glad I found Dr Yonatan Howard. I called the office on Monday and scheduled an appointment for Wednesday. When I met with him he was really friendly and went over my medical history. I have very high anxiety about going to the dentist and he made me feel calm. He took pictures and X-rays of my teeth and was wanted to save my teeth instead of getting 3 crowns. I went in 3 different times for each side of my mouth and front teeth. Each time was great, he was able to make make permanent overlays in about an hour and I left with no temporary anything. They are all very nice, professional, knowledgable and amazing! Thank you Dr Yonatan for everything! You will our dentist for a long time! This is the best dental office experienced!"- N.S. / Yelp / May 08, 2014

"The Doctors at the Dental Office, Encino are the finest, bar none. The staff are not only professsional and proficient at their jobs, they find the time to be friendly as well. The office has the most state of the art dental equipment, including it's own Cerec machine to make crowns on site, rather than placing temporary crowns and the need for two appointments, saving you precious time. I found Doctor Howard's work to be extremely gentle. I also found Dr. Howard's work was completed very quickly without being rushed. I had requested an estimate from Dr. Howard for some additional work; I found the estimate to be extremely reasonable and I also found Dr. Howard to be a Doctor, not a Salesman, unlike other Dentists I have met with."- C.H. / Yelp / Apr 04, 2012
"I have been going to Dr. Alan Howard and his son for years, first starting when they were in their office in Tarzana. This new office is beautiful and the staff is always super friendly which makes the experience much more palatable. Dr. Howard has made crowns for me, matching the color of my other teeth, while I relax in the chair watching a flat screen TV. No more wearing a temporary crown that may fall off, or having to come back weeks later to install the new crown. Everything is done in one visit. Brittany does my teeth cleaning and does two cleanings - scaling and manual. She is very informative and friendly, showing me many new ways to take care of my teeth I was not aware of. I used to be an anxious dental patient until coming here but this office has all the state of the art equipment and methods to take away your fears. I would not let any negative comments on Yelp affect your decision not to at least try this place. One lady in the waiting room said she drives down from Thousand Oaks for years because she likes Dr. Howard so much."- J.G. / Yelp / Nov 26, 2013
Best Candidates for Dental Crowns
A crown may be wanted or needed in several different ways. They may be placed to cover a decaying tooth to prevent it from chipping or it may hold together an already cracked tooth. Dental crowns may also cover a worn-down or loose tooth. They may be used to strengthen a tooth with a lot of decay that will not take a tooth-colored filling, serve as part of a dental bridge, or hide discolored or misshapen teeth. Crowns may be glued over your tooth or connected by an implant. The crown's material is chosen with consideration to where it is being placed. Porcelain fused to metal (PFM) or metal are usually stronger, which makes them better suited for the less visible molars and pre-molars. Ceramic or porcelain crowns are often selected for the visible teeth and custom made to match the size, color, and shape of your teeth. In your consult, Dr. Alan or Yonatan Howard will explain your choices and help you choose the best dental crown for your budget and needs.
What To Expect from Dental Crowns
At your consult, Drs. Howard and Howard will get dental impressions so your crown can be made to fit your tooth. In some cases, a temporary dental crown may be used to cover your tooth as your permanent crown is being crafted. As soon as your custom crown is made, the treatment area will be given a local numbing anesthetic. Stronger sedation techniques may be used to soothe any fears or anxieties. When the anesthesia has taken effect, Dr. Howard will prep your tooth by cleaning away any decay, then lightly file the enamel to create space for your dental crown. Your dental crown can be either glued to your tooth or connected to an implant. Once set, Dr. Howard can adjust the crown's fit so it is comfortable.
Dental Crowns Recovery
Unless sedation was used, you will be able to leave our office once the procedure is done and continue your daily activities. Dr. Howard or a member of his team will teach you how to care for your dental crown, including any foods that should be avoided and cleaning. During your yearly examinations at The Dental Office Encino, Dr. Howard will evaluate your dental crown and adjust it to keep it comfortable. They will tell you when your crown should be replaced; however, with good care, it may last for several years. If you notice any trouble with your crown (if it falls out or is loose), call our office immediately. Don't try to repair it or re-attach it because this may cause an infection or bad fit.
Based on your insurance coverage, a portion of your costs may be paid. After contacting your insurance carrier, we can calculate your remaining costs. At your consult, Dr. Howard will help you select the best crown material that suits your needs and budget. They can also talk about payment methods along with financing to help make your procedure affordable.
